Unless you’re a gambler, you happen to have ties to New England or Philadelphia, or you have an inexplicable desire to watch Tom Brady and Bill Belichick lift a sixth Super Bowl trophy, chances are you don’t really care who wins the game Sunday. And that’s fine. Because for most of the us, there’s only one real reason to get excited about the Super Bowl.
And no it’s not the commercials. Or the halftime show (that hasn’t been good since Nipplegate). It’s the food.
The Super Bowl is one of the most exciting eating days of the year. It’s one of those few holidays along with Christmas and Thanksgiving where we can embrace American gluttony in all its deep-fried and dip-filled glory.

Nachos are among the holy trifecta of football party food (along with wings and pizza). And yes, you can probably just throw some canned beans and cheese on top of a tray of baked chips. But this is the Super Bowl. Go big. Make these smoked brisket-topped nachos instead.

Similarly, if you want to go the New England route, whip up this lobster mac and cheese. It might be a bit more expensive, but it will also guarantee you win unofficial party MVP.

If you’re looking for something that’s as easy as it is crowd-pleasing, make these brown sugar Sriracha bacon bites. Bacon. Sriracha. Sugar. What else do you really need to know?
Edamame and Green Pea Hummus
If all of these just seem too decadent for you (but, c’mon it’s the Super Bowl!), make this edamame and green pea dip. It’s basically a cross between hummus and guacamole – and it’s healthy, vegan and gluten free – and incredibly addictive.
You’re gonna want something to wash all this down, and it doesn’t got much easier – or more delicious – than margaritas. There are really only two times a year to drink this summertime classic: warm weather and football season, and considering it’s the last day of football season and way too long until it’s hot again, you should probably drink as many margaritas as possible.
